Her body is a siren song
You are led into an ocean of unknowing
Within, within
So everyone that has ever loved her
Found themselves in over their heads
Impossible to cling to her
For she is water
Changeable, tempest-tossed
The seaweed of her hair around your throat
She coats you with pearls
And you gasp for air
Some fisherman’s tale compels you
Believing you will find the sea cave
Where she keeps her heart
A flame that burns in water
You will take it
And use it
To guide your ship through any storm
Instead you dissolve in her
Adoring drowning hero
She would catch you but cannot
For she is only water
Salt tears, tropical deluge
Watching as you fall away
Through the film of her promise
She did not do this on purpose
We are all bound by the rule
Of Nature
I need only to read a few lines into this poem, to find descriptions of my own heart and feelings, and the desperation that I often feel 😔, as I long to catch hold of things in life that always seem to be just out of reach…………
