Gold light streams at a low angle through the trees
Heavy on my eyelids as if I am dazed
Each falling leaf a glowing yellow page breathing
A story we’ve been telling all our lives
Your voice takes me back through the channel
A deep ocean river of time flowing forever
From your impossibly green eyes
Tasting the salt water of tears watching them
Glitter on your cheeks which are still somehow
The cheeks of the Child You Were
Strands of gold in your braids like armor
Opening the clasps of your heart letting it fall
We pour out into the rustle of color at our feet
I hear you speak my thought aloud a moment after
The sunlight is healing and the breeze swells
In response so we are singing a round
Rising falling ebbing flowing opening turning
It all comes to meet us and it has been
All along
Awesome
